i have a 2003 kia sorento and while i was driving it the check engine light came on then it died. all of a sudden i was overheating. the temp gauge was not raising or high at all leading to this. it was instantaneous upon the engine quitting. i have had a shop look at and they said i have a cracked block, blown radiator and no compression. i had my car serviced a week before this hapened and everythinig was good. what types of things would cause this to happen?

It either got hot and blew up or the garage is pulling a fast one on you. The temp sender and gauge could have been bad? Did they show you the engine or are you just taking their word for it? Do you know and trust these guys?
