Rio rear shock removal

When removing the rear shocks from a 2003 Rio, do you need access to the backside when removing the top 2 bolts? I can't find any access point from inside the trunk. Do the bolts thread onto a permanemt fitting? I don't want to drop anything in behind and not be able to get at it.

I own a 2003 Kia Rio and changed my rear shock absorbers. Took me about 15-20 minutes to do them both. 2 bolts. 1 upper and 1 lower. U jack the car, remove both wheels and you replace the shocks! Simple as that unless the Hatchback version differ from the base model. The shocks are not Macpherson. They are outside the springs and pretty ez to replace.

To answer you original question RioCanuk, the upper part is accessed under the rear seat. There are two releases under the front lip of the seat cushion that you can pull which will release the whole seat and you can pull that out of your way.
