Why does our daughter's 2004 Kia seem to be in neutral on occasion when in Drive?

Driving down a street today, and it seemed like it was in Neutral when I accelerated. Let my foot off the pedal and then it was fine. Did this 3x in a mile.

Perhaps the transmission mount has been comprimized, (diagonal tear, rot) these aren't too expensive to replace if this is the cause...go see it poked at with a screwdriver by an experienced hand...take it in. You know now that it ain't gonna be but around $50 for the part-
