Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The brake pedal is hard to push and the car won't
start. Makes a clicking sound and dash lights do
turn on. Last time I drove it was last night I don't
know what's going on. I have a 2017 jeep compass

It was the battery thank you. I jump started it but will I need to get a new one or will it be ok?

The battery needs to be replaced. Most new vehicles come with a three year battery. This being a 17 model you're due! Put Vaseline on the battery cable connections at the battery to prevent corrosion on your new battery. Hope that helps! Jim

The same thing is happening to mine. Same year. But it’s not the battery. It has lots of juice. The break won’t move and break light is on. Everything lights up gas raises on board but car won’t turn on. Don’t know what to do.

My Jeep compass has 2 batteries, the auxiliary battery was bad causing this symptom and other strange behavior. Replacing the auxiliary battery fixed the problem for me.
