What is causing car to smoke and get hot?

Smoke is coming from top of engine.

Make sure your PCV valve and hose has not fallen off. That would be oil smoke. If it's steam, coolant coming out check your oil and make sure it's good clean oil and not a light brown and overfull. And also your radiator. see if the overflow is not too full, should be about 1/4 full cold, and the radiator itself. Never pop a hot radiator cap. Come on back a let us know if the oil looks OK and coolant jug is low (as it should be) cold. Then we can go from there.
