Many newer vehicles have a weight sensor in the seat that will turn the passenger airbags on and off automatically so that they do not deploy unnecessarily in a crash. If yours does not have this, you may need to look for a switch on the dash that says "Passenger Airbag," and if no switch is present, you cannot turn the airbag off in your vehicle.
