Jerking when stopped

2018 should still be under warranty, no? Could be ABS (brake) related.

Mine has done it since I got it. I’ve taken it in 3x and they just look at me like I’m crazy.

Did you get any answers? Same thing here - But I've noticed it only seems to be at the beginning of my commute before the engine is warmed up, so I thought maybe the Auto Stop was trying to engage but wasn't able to do so if it's not warmed up?

Having the same issues here but it’s so random when it decides to do it. I’ve noticed in the summer it did it way less than now In the fall temperatures

Mine does the same thing, but it’s so random when it happens and there is no warning lights or anything. It seems like the car is trying to shut off and jerks when slowing down 20mph or less and sometimes when backing up. Usually not to long after the car has started. If I drive for a while it stops. But sometimes it will not do it for Days, weeks and during summer it didn’t do it at all. And I took it in but they couldn’t get it to duplicate so there’s nothing they could do :(

I'm not crazy!!! My 2019 has been doing this. I changed gas quality to see if it was a problem with the Kroger gas I was buying. Put Premium Phillips 66 gas in last time and it still does it after a cold start.

My 2019 does this all the time I just got the car brand new last month. Only put 300 miles on it and I have to take it back to have them look at it already. This is my first Chevy I hope i did not make a huge mistake buying this car.

Hopefully the more we take it in the faster someone will find a solution, if anyone finds a solution please post!!

Sad to say...I have 2007 the jerks began randomly as well. I took it into Chevy's Automatic numerous times over the years. No one could tell me anything. Now the jerks are causing the stability control and TC lights to come on.

Throttle body and or sensor or solenoid or need pil change if it's not one of those check plugs nd worst case your acrylic converter is clogged

I have a 2012 and it jerks as well. It randomly starts doing so last time I was told I just needed an oil change which did end up fixing it.

Well I have a 2013 Chevy equinox that’s been doing it change the catalytic converter change the oil and a few other sensors and it still does it and my neighbor has a 2010 that does the same thing but shut off mine doesn’t shut off just jerks and the idle goes low and then it’s fixed again but keeps doing it every once in a while anybody got any answers seems like there’s a lot of us with this problem

I was just told by a mechanic, about my 2013 equinox that starting doing this same thing, is that my engine is consuming oil. The pistons require oil pressure to fire and if there's leakage or consumption then when the computer tries to adjust the firings that it may not find the pressure it needs to do so, causing misfirings and, consequently, that jutting while stopped. Mine was having 1000 misfiring per second or minute (I don't remember the unit). My oil was below half where it should have been. When I got filled up it was fine again. But I think this could happen even with full oil if there's so much consumption occurring that even with full oil the system loses pressure from active oil loss. Chevy has some thing up to 8 years from the production date of the vehicle to assist with fixing this issue as they are aware of it. hope this helps someone else.

My 2018 Equinox does the same thing. It starts shaking when the brakes are applied at a stop light. It gets pretty bad. I dont want to take it to a dealership for $99 diagnostic fee and nothing be done. It doesnt do it all the time, only on occasions. Did anyone figure out what this is from? Can anything be done to fix it?

It's likely due to the engine consuming oil, which causes a lack of pressure, which causes misfirings when the computer tries to adjust the engine. right now GM has a special condition imposed upon them by a class action lawsuit to cover the cost of the repair and any damage caused by the faulty design if your vehicle still meets the milage and age requirements (mine barely made it). Take your vehicle into a dealership and mention all this. Call GM first and let them know, get a case number. GM i think is supposed to refund you even for the diagnostic.

I wish I would have seen this before I purchased my 2013 pre owned Equinox. The test drive was good but when I got off the highway at the stop light it started to jerk. Took yo have them looked it but was told to take to Chevy. I took the advise of someone on here to call GM. Got my claim number and they made me an appointment to take ti Chevy in the AM. I will let you guys know if I find out anything.

The jerking is from the lack of oil. If you have the 2.4L engine you have to keep that oiled up. Forget about the 3000 mile rule.

My 2012 does the same thing...what is causing it to consume so much oil though...I've been told it was solenoids..mass air flow sensor...oil consumption...fuel pump...I just need to my car to work. I feel like I was duped I've only had this vehicle for 5 months and I still owe $7000

So I had my 2013 at the shop for almost 3 weeks. First I had to make them understand they're not going to figure out what is wrong unless they drive the vehicle. It has no service lights to make you aware of what's going on. Thry drove it. I found putting the vehicle in nuetural while it's jerking it stops. So they found transmission issues and replaced parts. I've had it for about a month and I'm taking it back for. Everyone having this issue should call GM also and get a claim number. It makes them aware of the issue do we maybe can get a recall.

No answer, I got my power back. but the car still jerks in drive on and off when I stop.

I had same issue. Would kinda go back n forth at stop sign. I had code po404 also. And stabilitrack light come on. It was the EGR Valve. I replaced it and it stopped. I figure the valve was stuck closed and the exhaust wasnt recirculating properly.

I had the same "Jerking" that just recently started. It got progressively worse over the last 2 weeks. After seeing the comments about the oil, I checked mine and it was completely EMPTY!!! No leaks and I just had it changed about 4000 miles ago. Filled it with oil and it is fine now. (I hope the internal engine parts are fine as well.....)

I have a 2014 Equinox (pre-owned) and it jerks when at stops on a light or in traffic. It jerks when the vehicle is nice and warm and not while cold. I have changed the throttle body, ABS module, a few sensors and still have the problem. I am going to get the catalytic converter checked next but after reading all the responses above I have no hope that this issue will be resolved. This just sounds like a chronic problem with all Equinoxes new and old.

My 2013 did that beginning around 40,000 miles. Problem with the pistons, wrong size or whatever that supposedly Chevy knew about. Rebuilt engine under warranty and was told it had not damaged any other parts of the engine. As some have mentioned, it had no oil in the engine when I took it. Got rid of it tho' after the transfer case went out of it!
