I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7 l. I have to
tow about 11000 lbs and the 5.7 l is struggling.
What motor can I put in, 5.9 l, 6.1 l hemi, what
would be easier? Best bang for your buck?

The bigger gas engine, will be cheaper to install. But the 5.9L i6 is hard to beat
Right I'm kind of leaning towards the 6.1 liter beings that it's a motor that's on a crate with a tranny the gauges the computers everything they call it like a running crate motor or something like that what kind of problems do you think I would run into installing that 6.1 l i mean basically same size same weight just bigger cams and or what? And how hard would it be to put in the 5.9 l
The motor mounts shouldn't be much different if any nor the tranny mounts, just beef up the suspension. In order to install the Cummins it'll be different motor mounts, different tranny, clean out the fuel tank, n I think dif ECM
thats a big job . you would need the wire harness and change the fuel pump and lines from a similar truck with diesel filters . the exhaust is different also have to change it . you may need to change the gas pedal if yours is electric or manual linkage to the injector pump + 2 batteries and a higher amp alternator .
