Is it normal at engine idle (both cold and warm engine running) that it is only
the LH exhaust that is actually exhausting. This is very noticeable on cold
mornings due to the condenation vapours emmision. Both exhaust extremities
are black, but the RHS is always cold and it is obvious that there is no
emission at idle via the RH exhaust.. Im puzzled by this....

Sir, You are a genius.... thank you. yes i did kneel down and look into that RH exhaust and there it was a mechanical flapper valve. Well I must admit that i would not have thought of doing what you suggested. I think that I have a lot to still learn about this marvellous BMW series 5....I love it. Thank you and best regards
