Cracked windshield

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Has anyone had their windshield crack for no reason? I have a one year old
Honda CR-V with 24K mile on it.  All of a sudden, I have 3 small cracks, 1 to 3
inches long, at the bottom of the passenger side.  The dealer will not cover it
and they want $1,665 to replace it.  I appealed to Honda and got the same
answer.

The cracks are probably due to stress from a sharp point pressing on the glass. Windshields do not cost $1,600. Shop around at auto glass shops but I expect a OEM windshield installed will probably be $400 or less. If you can document a fault in the car that caused the crack I would make a warranty claim.

I have a 2018 CRV and have the same issues. Noticed it one afternoon and by the time I left work it was across the bottom of my whole window. I really believe they will have a recall soon for it because this isn’t normal at all. Plus the class seems so weak

My 2017 Honda CR-V developed a 10 inch crack from the right pillar on the passenger side while sitting in my garage. Dealer rep could NOT find any impact anywhere along, near, or close to this crack or anywhere else. Waiting for Honda decision about warranty work. I am not hopeful about this.

2018 Honda CRV which I purchased in Dec 2018. Had been parked x 2 days in garage and found this morning a cracked windshield on passenger side. Shocked when I saw it. I have not been hit by any stone or object and looks like it’s cracked in a inside layer of the window. Surprised at how many Honda’s have cracked windshields. Have not notified dealer yet.

I just bought a 2014 Honda CRV and I haven’t even had it a month yet and driving down the road it just cracked inside windshield, from passenger to driver side! I did call and tell them! No response back!

Manufacturing fault or design flaw dealer should replace free or recall because there is heater in edge possible causing this issue.

I have the same issue. My car is a CR-V 2018 Turing. The windshield cracked while overnight in the garage. It is long from passenger to driver side. And there is no impact at all. I went to the dealer. They did a inspection and took some pictures. But a few day later, they said they need more pictures. So I drove in again. But this time a new crack was found along with the old one. The dealer said they won’t cover it in this case. But I believe that the old crack (no impact) caused the windshield weak and fragile. So any little hit will cause a crack, which would not happen if there is no crack before. Then I called Honda Customer Relationships. But they are so arrogant. They don’t care about customers and the truth why these cracks happened. The agent’s attitude is very very terrible.

Well-maintained, low-mileage 2016 Honda CR- V and rear window cracked spontaneously while parked in the garage overnight. Cost $1100 to repair (including re-tinting). Not sure what my insurance is going to cover yet.

2017 CR-vEXL...Crack outta nowhere! started middle from hood-line, crept up about 6 inches and started travel across lower end of driver's side...I just bought this a month ago as a CPO with 43K mi. I do keep it outside, but the temp was not particularly cold over the past couple days: 30-34 with heavy snowfall, but not THAT heavy! LOL

Just bought a 2019 CV-R EXL, CPO, w/ 40K. Driving to work last Friday, and the windshield cracked. Made the loudest noise, sounded like something landed on the roof. Cracks are on the lower passenger side. I live in CA, so hasn't been freezing temps, and I park it in my garage. Have a call into the dealer's Finance Manager as a contact point, and still waiting to hear back.....................
