Corsa Intake Manifold

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi Gurus
My brother has a Vauxhall/Opel Corsa and has had all sorts of issues. All have been fixed, except for one. There is a strange clunking, ticking noice and gets fast when revving the car. The last mechanic he's spoken to has said the intake manifold needs replacing and has been quoted over a grand for the work! I'm not convinced a new one is necessary, maybe repairing/refurbishing the existing one. Is this weekend job that can be done on our own, or does it require a mechanic? Can intake manifold parts be replaced with new ones?

Does not sound like a intake manifold sounds more like a lifter tap try adding some Lucas Engine Oil Stabilizer to oil had a bad tap and that took care of it. Not saying it’s going to work for you but it is worth a try.
