99 ford ranger

Asked by Dockumca Feb 27, 2016 at 08:07 PM about the 1999 Ford Ranger XLT Extended Cab 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my 1999 ford ranger 4.0 engine 4x4 started
slipping going into 3rd. I thought it would go away
but then later on it started slipping going into 2nd. I
changed the filter, fluid and gasket on the
transmission. After I did that I took it for a drive and
it stopped slipping into 2nd but still slips going into
3rd. When I changed the fluid and filter there were
no metal or brass chips in the pan. Any ideas what I
need to do to fix?

Try adding some Lucas Transmission Stop Slip to transmission do not over fill remove same amount of trans fluid as on bottle of Lucas.

I drove the truck for maybe 20 or 25 minutes. Should it start shifting better now? Or I have to wait a while

Never used that brand before but it should say on the bottle when you should start seeing a difference if it is going to work.
