1995 2.5 jeep

My 1995 2.5 manual trans jeep will lose power and
start running rough at high speeds for a few miles
then the engine will smooth out and regain power.  
there is no pattern to it. And no problems at lower
speeds. The oxygen sensor wire has been cut by
someone and the plug is just hanging by  the
engine. I just traded for the jeep so I don't have a
large sa0mple of how it has run b4

I would try to replace those O2 sensors. You can bring your car to an AutoParts store and they will run a diagnostic test for free so you can determine which sensor you'll need to replace (there are always more than one along the exhaust manifold). It could be an issue with a spark plug, too. The diagnostic test will tell you more. Other possible issues could be an old air filter or dirty air intake. Those are easy fixes and will be very cheap if you can do it yourself. A more serious, but unlikely, cause could be an old alternator.
