Cause of dash brake warning light stays on at start
up

Emergency brake may be depressed some, make sure it is totally released. If you ran low on brake fluid and pushed the brake pedal down to the floor the brake light would come on and stay on until it is reset. If that was the case the brakes need to be looked at ASAP.
