Jeep won't start

Asked by Cheyrow May 25, 2011 at 02:02 PM about the 1997 Jeep Cherokee SE 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving, the jeep surged like it skipped a gear or knocked out of gear. Come to find out, the distributor cap and rotor burnt out, blew a hole in the cap, fried the roto. I replaced the cap and rotor, and wires, and would not start. I then replaced the coil, and it still won't start....what could be the problem?
