my ford explorer when driving between 40 and 55 miles an hour the engine gets very loud trying to figure out what the problem is

My daughter's 99 was doing the exact same thing. When I asked her when the last time she tuned it up she asked; what's that? 289K miles. Plugs and wires did the trick. Try using motorcraft parts also.
