Sounds like something is binding up in the transfer case, somewhere in the linkage to the front I would bet. What do you mean by the brakes don't work right? Does it pull to one side when you step on them or does it seem to drag?

So I think it's just the abs having problems with the slipping in the snow. If I push hard on the brake when in 4 wheel drive it's stiff and clicks and won't stop very well. I think I just need to press lighter on the brake and start stopping sooner when in the ice or snow. I appreciate any advise and thank you very much for your input.
