can i put a 2005 3.7 in my 2003 liberty?

papa thx for reply but i was told only a 2002 or 2003 engine will only work due to the reluctor rings on the crankshaft and cam not allowing the ignition and fuel injectors to fire not allowing the engine to start.

you were told wrong,00,01 02- 03 04 05 will work,every 3 years they change,

again thx papa i have found a very low mileage 3.7 out of a 2005 liberty with only 4k miles on it for 1400.00 and was hoping this engine would be a direct fit with no electrical problems and compatibility problems with the 2003 ecu.

My information tells me the reluctor ring on the crankshaft has to be changed and the tone gear on the camshaft as well! For the 2005 liberty 3.7 ! To be compatible with your system! The windows on the camshaft have a different sequence so it must be changed or timing will be off!

we installed 2005 jeep liberty 3.7 in a 2003 jeep liberty 3.7 and we are running in to a timing problem. its hard to turn over and when you unplug the cam sensor and then will turn over with out hesitation so that leads me to be leaves it has a timing problem .

Can. I put engine 2003 Jeep Liberty in 2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7

You can fit a 351 Modified in it though with no issues.
