how much should I pay to have a 2005 jeep Liberty differential replaced

mech is telling us after replacing all the breaks that the differential is the real
issue? the car is located and repairs will be done in Chicago , IL

A rebuilt differential could run around $1,500 plus installation. I would guess that it will be the better part of a days labor so somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,500. Then again you live in the most corrupt city in the country.
