I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty 3.7 V6 and I'm
trying to swap with a 3.7 V6 out of a 2002
Jeep Liberty the car cranks but won't start
what could possible be the issue?
Who knows? you are doing the butchery- trying to save money- and you are over your head with this whole "Jeep Liberty" thing- isn't that ironic? It's named Liberty but it actually just enslaves you and your bank account- really, get another car, another brand-
I can see that you give up very easy pussy
Thank you for the compliment!
great, car guru trolls.. don't you guys live on facebook? This was a pretty good question, albeit inarticulate to your tastes. Swapping a 2006 3.7L with another similar 3.7L even the wrong year isn't difficult. Its a reluctor issue and the VIN needs compatibility.. Make sure you have all the information before you start a project, like getting the manuals for both the existing vehicle and the one for the motor you're transplanting. Custom parts aren't always needed, but sometimes it happens. Its a matter of $, Time, and energy.. Cheap, Fast or Good.. Pick 2. can't have um all.
2004-2010 Ram 1500 _____ 2011-2012 Ram 1500 _____ 2004-2011 dodge Dakota ____ 2004-2009 Dodge Durango _____ 2007-2011 Dodge Nitro ____ 2004-2012 Jeep Liberty _____ 2005-2010 Grand Cherokee & Commander _____ 2006-2010 Mitisubishi Raider ____ These are the motors that I was told i could slap into my 2006 Jeep liberty.. however, i'm hightly skeptical of the difficulty involved, especially with a mitsubishi motor having some interchangeability with my own.. Again, how much effort do you have. Although, don't forget they have to be 3.7L to bolt up.
The 3.7 motors have tone rings on the crank and one camshaft. These vary year to year and may not be compatible with your ecm. If you use your old ones it will definitely work, but the one on the crank is not easy to change.
The problem is almost certainly due to mismatch between the old engine and the newer ECU, that and a mechanic that apparently does not know what they are doing.
