Toyota 2017 Yaris starting issue

Asked by Sep 30, 2019 at 08:14 PM about the 2017 Toyota Yaris Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1 out of 3 times when I go to start my car,
cold or hot, rain or shine, it will turn for about
3-7 seconds before it finally starts. I’ve taken
it in and Toyota can find nothing wrong with

1 Answer

Might be a weak fuel pump. Try turning the ignition to the ON position, not START, and listen for the fuel pump. It will start and build pressure. Then turn off the ignition and hit START. If it fires up, it's the weak fuel pump or something in the system like a bad regulator. If not this, you probably just need a tune-up.
