99 Ford explorer anti theft
I have a 99 Ford explorer and someone tried
to steal it and peeled the column. There no
where I can put the key in. The anti theft
system shut my truck completely down.
Someone said the is a wire I can disconnect
to bypass it. Any suggestions
Talk to the 'someone' where the wire is, I bet there isn't. Sounds like you need a new lock cylinder and key set, and some new plastic panels. Then have the keys programmed to the car. Call a local locksmith, most will come to the car to perform the fix.
If you really could bypass the anti-theft system by cutting a single wire, car thieves would have a field day stealing cars.
You will probably wound up replacing the whole steering column with one from a salvage yard. They can tell you what will interchange and this should save you some money....in the long run.
