99 exoeditin stuck in 4 wd shift motor has bren replaced 3 times already still stuck in 4 low or hi

I have a 99 Ford expedition that has
been stuck in 4 wd for sometime now
and I have replaced the shift motor 3
times already the switch works because
it makes a clicking sound at the relay
box but will not engage.. Please help it's
costing me lots of money in g as and the
wheels bind up too a stop when I n as
I'm driving

My 2003 f350 did the same thing only I found out early that you have to back that vehicle up about 100 plus feet to disengage the 4x4 drive. I have locking hubs. Had to disengage turning hubs to free then disengage the switch then back it up in reverse 100 feet. That worked! Ya gotta back it up!! I know that sounds wierd, but if you think about it it makes a lot of sense! There's a lot on pressure on those gears. You have to back it up. You dont you're FUCKED!!
