If the check engine light is on but not flashing and it's yellow or orange do the following : 1. Put the key in the ignition, turn to acc, then turn to on and back to acc 3 times. It will show dotted lines and display a "p" number with an error code. Google the code to see what it is. 2. If it's not a serious problem reset the ECM or PCM by doing the following : A. Open fuse box, remove the two relays/fuses saying either PCM or ECM. B. Now remove the positive battery pole for 3 mins. After 3 mins put the relays back, connect the positive poles. C. Put the key in again and repeat step 1. The error codes will be cleared and the engine light will be off after starting the car... Easy and simple.

If the problem is the battery (it will say it on checking the code) then the reset works fine. Any other error use OBD.
