1999 Ford Contour Will turn over, But will not start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought used 1999 ford Contour about 2-3 weeks
ago. The day I bought it it had the issue with
starting. It will start the first time, say first drive of
the morning, but if I turn engine off and come back
a few minutes later, it will not start. It will turn over,
but won't start. I had the alternator replaced along
with changed oil and brand new iac Valve put it.
Now it just won't start at all it's been about 4 days
since it's ran. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. My father thinks it's the ecu gone bad
at this point. It is the 6 cyl model. Any help on how
to troubleshoot the issue would be great.

First I would check for spark, see what it looks like, should be white, not orange. Then I would have the Ignition Control Module checked. When they are going bad, the engine heat will affect them. Then also the coil. The ICM and the coil can be tested at an auto parts store.
