1999 ford contour won't start

Asked by Cctruck17 Aug 31, 2010 at 11:53 AM about the 1999 Ford Contour 4 Dr LX Sedan

Driving along....car stalled. Wouldn't start again. Garage said cylinders were full of fuel. Put
new plugs in, coil pack ok,timing ok, spark now ok.  He says I need a new motor. Does this
sound right? What is he missing? I have had no problems so far with it till this point.

like i have said before,the contour was not the car they though it to be,they have always been trouble,if your timeing belt broke it would do nothing sounds to me the mechanic is right.

Ik this thread is a decade old but the cars both 2.0l and 2.5l engines were non interference engines, so even if the timing belt broke the car would run fine after. It was the fuel pump, gaurentee it. My cars been doing the same thing. If timing is off it would run terribly and stall but not not start.
