2000 ford windstar wont crank but if you hold key in start position for a few seconds it will finally crank and start

Could be the Safety Neutral Switch, check for codes also. :D

Check starter relay also reset computer . Remove battery cables turn on head lights switch and put both -and+ cables together for a few minutes don’t touch cables to battery while doing this . Turn off head light and put positive cable on first then negative. Start engine.
