Jeep JKU 2015 Crank but no start after running fine

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About a month ago I went hiking, upon return of my 7 hour hike my 2015 JKU
would crank but no start. It almost caught once then stalled out and died.
Following attempt would just produce crank and no start. Nothing on the dash
indicating an error.

Tried giving it a jump, was not the issue. Finally got it towed two hours back to
my nearest garage.

It's the weekend so garage is closed, they finally take a look on Monday they
say car has no issues, starts right up. No codes, nothing. They don't charge
anything.

Car runs with no issues from then on, I imagine it's a fluke.

Fast forwards to right now, I drive 5 hours back from Vermont to NY. Car runs
smoothly and perfectly.

I double park to load my things into my place run in and out of my apartment.
Go back out to the car to start it up. Just like before, cranks catches weakly
then sputters out. After that car just cranks and no start. Since last time
bought a Code Reader - no codes, nothing. Had to push it down the street and
parallel park with no power on a slight slope....

My theories:
- Fuel system, have dealership check fuel pump... but why would it run
smoothly for hours on end and then this...
- Bad computer, O2 sensors perhaps getting wrong reading, kills the engine
and then after a few days resets itself and it runs again.
- O2 sensors
- Blown fuses
- ... but why no codes?

Last time this happened dealership refused to take it because it was running
again by the time I called them. What should I do?

just passed 40,000 miles on this trip.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm having same exact problem right now and mine too started after hitting a bit over 40000 miles (started at 43000). I've been towed 3x to dealership with in 3wk period. So far they have replaced fuel pump and TIMP module and bamm within 24hr same thing. Did you ever track down your cause I could use some direction as they seem to be stumped.

Thanks. Mine was brand new when I bought her. Mine is something more than fuel pump... okay I'll keep looking.

I had same problem---it would crank but not turn over. I took it to a local garage after engine light came on indicating it was the EGR valve. I got in car to drive away and same problem------ it would crank but would not turn over as if it was starved for fuel. The mechanic came over and told me to turn the key and wait for all the light on the dash to go off then crank it. I tried that and it started right up and it drove fine, even better than before with the new EGR valve. I went out to drive it this morning and the same problem---it would crank but not start. After it finally started, I took it for a drive and it drove fine. I just went out again this afternoon and it won't start. I'm headed to the dealer next week.

I have the same problem 2015 Jeep Wrangler, bought brand new, and had a remote start put into it, by the Dealer, when I bought the jeep. A few months ago the dealer put in a new starter and everything worked fine, until now. The same problem, turn the key, hear it turn over, then dies. After a few time it might start. I am waiting for my appointment with the dealer again. I am 70, and this is a SUV I always wanted, never had a problem like this with any other Vehicle I owned. I do baby my Jeep, but what is the use. I feel this is a manufacture defect, with all there money, you would think they would help us, even if it is out of warranty. Very disappointing!!
