1988 speedometer works intermittently

On my 1988 C1500 I think there is somthing wrong
behind the gauge cluster...when it stops I hit the
dash to get it to work for a little while. Any ideas?

I would first check speedometer cable connections by cluster and by cruise control by fender wall

I have a 1989 Chevy 1500 my gauge lights work but none of the gauges work just the lights any help?
