1991 k1500 oil pressure dropping to zero on dash, "check gauges" light comes on

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey guys, i have a 1991 k1500, 5.7 and 5 soeed manual.
The oil psi always read MAX untill it started getting cold
outside, winter hit and one day my gauge started falling to
zero soon as the teuck gets close to operating temp.
I replaced the sensor at the back of the intake and no fix.
Been driving the truck for a couple months like this, no
ticking no knocking it runs okay. Just really driving me
crazy with this light popping on every time i let off the gas.
But soon as i take off and start driving again itll read about
30psi... any ideas how to solve this problem?
Even if it meant making the oil psi gauge MAX out again
with a wiring trick? Once the oil pressure drops to zero the
truck sometimes will idle down to around 4-500 rpms, but
for the most part its right around 800. Thank you all in
advance for your help! Id really just like to get this light to
go out!!!!!!

Well, probably should check the oil pressure to see for sure what is going on. If you are to keep driving it this way, you could just remove the bulb for that warning light.

Just paste a photo of a oil pressure gauge over the real one and drive it until the engine seizes.
