MI bought my Daughter a Chevy truck, time for a new engine and a
MANUAL transmission, right now it's an auto transmission. Have had
trouble finding what the motor actually is, it would seem it's a 350/270HP
"Vortec." V8.

What would be the best economical crate replacement for the truck AND
including a manual transmission? Want to be able to use reg gas [87]. I'm
not sure that HP is of great importance over stock; I'm sure there is an
upgrade that would help with fuel economy with around 290 to 315HP?

Appreciate some GURU or smart individual, helping to keep my Daughter
on the road in her favourite truck. The current engine has 300,000 miles
and burns a quart of oil a week, the transmission is weak now..

It also needs a front bumper and grill...Where would I look for those two
items that's reasonable?   72116.

first all body parte are easy to find on line..fuel will be ok....back to the engine...have you run a wet and dry compression test rings or guides...?? i would keep the motor thats in it for sure and the trans are easy to rebuild...most times just bearings and synchros

new grill $ 53- bumper 89- black a little more chrome..trans can be bench built....engine not syre of your issues/problem/ other than oil

I just want a replacement engine and transmission links or ideas. This time I don't want rebuilds. Now, thanks for the grill info, that and a bumper can be used, just need to be functional. Cheers

Seems like this site works off an answer is a conclusion, please refer to the primary question that was not answered to at all.
