95 has temp sensor I believe, my Chevy is 95 1500 2wd.. just replaced hoses, radiator, heater core, and t-stat 3 times to resolve over heating.. never had a gauge issue though. I'm thinking it has a temp sensor right there where t-stat goes in, in fact the neck that your upper hose goes to.. that neck has two bolts and on one is a eye-connector attached to wire that goes to a sensor about an inch to the right. I assumed that was it

Wire on bolt to hose neck is ground, goes into harness.. coming out of same harness 2 wires goes to sensor on front left of the neck into intake. Sending a pic

There are 2 temp sensors one for gage and the other for computer. Gage is on drivers side of the block.
