I've got a 1995 chevy silverado (z71) with a manual transmission from the factory. I want to put a automatic transmission in it but not sure which transmission to get. Not sure if a 700r4 would be the way to go or if it'd even hook up correctly. Any help at all is appreciated!

700r would be the easiest. Your computer will be fine to run with it. You just need the kick down cable from a earlier truck that came with one (1992 and back). That and jump your clutch so you can still start the truck without a clutch pedal. Driveshafts will be different. Make sure you get a 700r with provisions for a speed sensor and not a speedo cable. I will say this, there are alot of guys that would love a z71 with a manual. If you do some digging you could probably find a guy to trade with that has what you want
