Truck problem

Asked by 1995chevy1500 May 11, 2016 at 03:18 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Cheyenne RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've got a 1995 chevy c1500 v6 vortec and
I can't seam to figure out why it runs like it
does. If there's weight or a couple people
in my truck it seems like it loses power and
it does the same thing when it warms up
real good sometimes. I have no clue what
the problem could be!!

Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down.

The service light cuts on after running it for a while but I had it read last night. it showed up code 12 when I looked the code up it said that that means nothing's wrong

If you can run it till that light comes on and pull over and immediately check the codes that would be great. It's trying to say something but it must be clearing out. Other than that some basics, make sure ignition components are in good shape, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Ignition timing set at 0. Also to avoid confusion the 4.3 didn't become a vortec till 1996. You have a tbi 4.3 unless someone put serious effort to retrofit a 95 truck. Make sure you have no vacuum leaks.
