Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1996 chevy 1500 with a slipping automatic transmission (between 2nd
and 3rd). I found a transmission online for $500 including a manual transfer
case but turn out its from a 1993 GMC 2500. I know the older GMC and Chevy
were virtually the same truck but I'm worried about it being a 2500. I'm just
starting to learn about mechanics and wish to rebuild my 1996 but I don't feel
confident enough to rebuilt the transmission in my truck now. Thanks!

The 2500 "Should have a 4l80e. It's a great transmission but not a direct swap. It'll bolt up but your trans mount won't line up, your driveshaft will need modified and you'll need a way to control it as youjr com isn't programmed for it. It's cheaper to pay someone to rebuild your current 4l60e then do this swap. Basically if your on a budget don't do it. If you want the truck stronger and not worried about $$$ then do it
