Water pump

Asked by Dean Jan 16, 2017 at 02:16 PM about the 1981 Chevrolet C/K 10 Scottsdale RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Changed water pump. Truck was running good no
knocks, no smoke. Drove around town no
problems,  next mo truck just cut off on highway.  
Will turn over but not start. Any ideas?

Did the truck overheat before shutting down?

Pull a spark plug wire and have someone crank it over. No fire? Check ignition fuse or the hot wire to the distributor. If you have power to the distributor and no fire to plugs then you most likely have a bad distributor coil or other internal distributor problems.
