Are the accessories on when you take the key out? If so the battery may run down if something is left on. You probably need a new ignition switch.

The first try a couple of things. I have a 79 k10 chevy 4x4. I had it around 20 years. I would first spray white grease in a can for tumblers, to those up and for the moisture. Your tumblers havea lot of ware .but a inition switch and key set ain't but about 15-20 bucks thanks David Bigcountry Wardlaw,

You can Google the information are buy a book on everything about that year . it is easier to search it and print it out from your computer. Enission switch is easy to change out. it has silver ring on the front of the switch and silver ring turns to your left hand take off an pull the switch out and is a plug of wires that plugs back in. You can also spray white grease in the switch plug because alot of times it's getting moisture in it causing friction friction.
