Hard starting

89 Chevy 2500 5.7.  Turn key to on and I can
hear fuel pump. Hard to start takes many
times before it starts. After starting it runs
fine. I did smell gas a couple weeks ago after
driving home from work into garage. Help.

what do the plugs look like ? Do you have a gas leak ? spray some carb cleaner down the throttle
