Why does my 2006 Infiniti M35X lose throttle?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2006 Infiniti (M35X) was giving code "P2101".  Vehicle would lose throttle and stay in idle.  Sometimes it would run without any problem, and sometimes it would go into an idle and have no throttle.  I replaced the throttle motor with a NEW throttle motor.  After replacing the throttle motor the vehicle ran super well.  Shortly thereafter, it occurred again...no throttle.  Within seconds I started the car and it ran without any problem. I thought the throttle motor had to relearn and adjust.  I drove the car about 20 miles and there was no problem.  On another driving experience at night, the vehicle again lost its throttle, had no power, and the lights went completely out. Within 3-4 minutes I started the vehicle and it ran as it should.  Do you have any idea what may be the problem?

I checked the wiring. Further research shows Nissan doing a recall on the exact same issue. The accelerator pedal sensor signal may detoriate resulting in the output of an incorrect signal and cause the engine to go into fail-stop (limp home) mode. The recall should begin in November of 2013. View the following web address:

RayC I have had this problem happen 6 times in the past year. Thanks for the recall---- Nissan. Actually it gave me a chance to not let my wife drive my car. I found on the 4th limp session that if I put my auto in manual drive, I get my engine back. Stop the car later and restart, all is good. I pull the battery cable and turn on lights with the push my brake pedal on and clear SES. I get about 8K miles before it happens again.
