2000 Ford Mustang had trouble starting, runs fine now after two tries but SES light is on

Asked by Tiffany Apr 17, 2017 at 08:20 PM about the 2000 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This is a 2000 Ford Mustang.  It took two tries to start this morning, but otherwise is fine, but the SES light is on.  I added oil yesterday and gas today, and both oil and gas caps are tight.  The battery was replaced in December 2015. I'd like to see if I can get an idea what's wrong before I bring it in.  Does anyone have any ideas what I could check?

How does it sound before starting? Can u narrow to electrical. mechanical or fuel? Turn key on, but not all the way......let sit with gauge lights on for 10-15 sec......then try ignition. If starts right away.....it means ur fuel pump is going bad and it's telling u this in a subtle way.
