Tire Pressure

Asked by Jul 09, 2017 at 08:45 PM about the 2006 Jaguar X-TYPE Luxury Edition

Question type: General

Hello, I have 215-45R17 ProEXS 4 Plus tires on my 2006 Jaguar X-Type VDP. The door sticker says to run at 38 psi in the front and 35 psi in the back. These psi measurements are for the stock tire 225/45R17. Should I still operate at the suggested psi? Thank you for your help!

I would stick with the stock tire pressure as long as your tires are rated to take 38 psi.

Max pressure is 50 psi. I just want these tires to last. They were expensive. Thank you for your time!!

The difference in tire size is tiny so not much to worry about. I personally recommend going up a size or so but not down sizing. Keep an eye on the tire wear and keep them rotated.

Yes, stick with stock pressures, you don't want to run at 50psi. Overinflation will wear the center of the tire out and your handling and comfort will be compromised.

Although stock tire pressures are always the best place to start, I usually run mine 10% over inflated from stock and seem to have better tread wear. I have never had the center wear out first. Never exceed the maximum cold inflation pressure listed on the side wall.

Living in the mountains I run tire pressures on the high side as it improves handling and helps keep the tire edges from wearing.
