03 Chrysler intrepid tranny fluid

Asked by Mar 12, 2017 at 07:27 PM about the 2003 Chrysler Intrepid SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I see my tranny fluid is burnt and low what
kind of fluid is ok to put in if I don't know
what it has in it currently and I've never
changed it before anyone know how?

If its burnt it may already be too late, if it shifts properly I would run the new fluid with some TransX in it for at least. Thousand miles then service it again, changing the fluid and filter and then put in some LubeGuard for Chrysler transmissions and drive as you normally would, until the next service interval at another 30K miles if it lasts that long. Burnt fluid indicates a slipping transmission and overheated fluid, so damage has already been done, it's just a matter of time before it needs overhauled.
