2004 Hyundai sonata is spuddering

Asked by May 14, 2018 at 07:45 PM about the 2004 Hyundai Sonata GL FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata and the car starts up just fine except for when
you put it into reverse or drive it will hesitate before it will start going. Once it
starts going it works ok until you stop it and again the same thing. It sputters
and sounds like it wants to die but it doesn't

Do you have a check engine light on? sounds like a misfire.

When it first happened the check engine light would come on but as soon as i got the car going and took my foot off of the gas and then put it back on it would go off. Once I got it home and then tried to go back out and drove it to the shop it stayed on and now I'm afraid to drive it until I know what's wrong with it

Need to get the codes read.

One person tried to already and they didn't get a code to come up! It is starting to make a little knocking noise rhat it didnt have before so i quit driving it until i could find out what it might be and if it keeps coming up with no code would be ok to drive to another shop until someone wants to figure it out.. I don't want to cause anymore damage that it don't need to be
