2010 Jeep Patriot doesn't speed up when I step on the gas.

Asked by GuruVG4JB Sep 24, 2018 at 01:52 PM about the 2010 Jeep Patriot North Edition 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sometimes when I step on the gas, the car will only go about 20 Klms per hour.
Then it jerks & starts moving again. I took it to a garage & they said it's a
transmission code that's showing up. Now I have to take it to a tranney shop as
they don't do that kind of work there. What could the problem be?  Will I have to
spend thousands on a new transmission?
