I was gonna wondering is I been driving my 2000
explorer in o/d would it make it go bad

No OD is just 4th gear. I lock it out if I am towing a load in the hills or driving down a steep grade.

What will make your transmission go bad is lack of maintenance. Change the fluid and filter every 30 - 50,000 miles or more often if the ATF is brown or light pink.

2005 Ford Explorer should I drive with the overdrive on or off

I never use overdrive when towing just to be safe because towing with an oversize load with overdrive will harm the vechile
