Setting timing

Asked by Jun 13, 2017 at 08:48 AM about the 2004 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car in question is a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon gt 6 speed 2.7L.  I am in the process of replacing the timing belt after it broke.  I rotated the left (towards rear of vehicle) cam shaft individually, with the belt off, past the timing mark to about 1 o'clock.  How can I safely get this cam back to the mark without hitting any valves off the pistons.  Is it ok that I cranked the engine to get the crank lined up while both cams were at about the 1 o'clock position
