Alarm keeps going off saying there is a door ajar

Asked by Devilishly Feb 25, 2020 at 11:08 PM about the 2009 Pontiac G6 SE V6 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Alarm keeps going off on it's own. The display says a door
is a jar and it alternates between the front drivers door and
front Passengers door. How do I fix this.

The door ajar switches are inside the door. Could they both go bad at the same time...? Maybe. I had a ford that did that, the switches are covered in a lube, which is only rated for about 10 years, and your vehicle is now ten years old. Areas with a lot of moisture or freezing temps may not even get to 10 years. You have to open the door panel to get to the ajar switch, I would at least look them over, clean them up and reapply a lube or WD40, or just replace them.
