1990 Honda Accord DX stalls while driving

Asked by Kirby May 21, 2019 at 02:00 PM about the 1990 Honda Accord DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1990 Honda Accord DX that recently
started stalling while I'm driving it. No lights on
dash or warning it's going to stall. Every time it
stalls, I pull over and am able to start it right back
up and be on my way. Remote start works every
time. Took to a mechanic. He had the car for
almost a week and drove it but was unable to
duplicate the issue. Sometimes it doesn't stall, but
most of the time it stalls at least once during a
commute. Sometimes multiple times.
Unpredictable and stressful to drive if the road
doesn't have a shoulder for me to pull over.

What are most likely causes so I can start
replacing parts to see what works?

https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=WX9EF0eOrVs&feature=share Believe it or not it took me 2 months & 2 different mechanics to figure out it was the ignition switch Apparently, the switches goes bad on Honda's. I had just the "ELECTRICAL" part of the switch replaced and it has solved my stalling problem There were no true code for my problem. I first took it to O'REILLYS and the printout said that my catalyst was performing below threshold 1. Whenever the mechanic hooked up his handheld computer to it it was indicating that it was the catalyst.
