AC fan continues to run after shut off and key removed
I have a 2005 GMC Yukon SLE with 227,000 miles on it. Today after running the air conditioner for the first time since last fall, when I shut it off and took the key out, the AC fan kept running and wouldn't shut off. I started the vehicle back up, tried to shut the fan off on the console, but it would not shut off. Now the fan has continuously run for 5 hours and my 6-month-old battery is now dead. My mechanic checked it out about a year ago for me as the speedometer and gas gauge quit working, and said that the motor for the cluster that controls all the gauges was on its last leg and there was several other malfunctions in the cluster as well. I was told that it had no bearing on the AC and heat controls, and since I only drive it in my small home town, I decided not to have it fixed just yet since it was going to cost over $2500 to replace and repair what was wrong. Could this be what is causing the problems with the fan?
