When the car is idle, i noticed that smoke was coming out of the hood on the passenger side of my car what could this mean? My car is not power steering and is a manual transmission. I noticed that the tempreture slowly went up but not all the way

The smoke isn't very much like something that would come out of the exhaust

It sounds like one aof a few possible problems 1) you have a coolant leak, look for the source of the steam, not smoke 2) your thermostat is not opening, which causes spike in temperature and pressure build up
